Every member is required to have 40 volunteer hours each year in NHS. Only 20 hours of non-sponsored NHS events will count. A sponsored event is one that appears on the NHS site or an emergency email sent out by Mrs. Patch. You can only get 10 non-NHS hours for any event. All hour forms/volunteer documentation go to Mrs. Patch in S236 and must be signed bythe adult in charge of the event. If a member has less than the required hours, that member will not receive the stole at Seniors Awards Night, but will receive the cord if he has completed at least 60% of the hours needed, paid dues, and is a student in good standing at Westside.
NHS dues are $25 for your junior year and only $20 for the senior year. These dues pay for an NHS shirt as a junior and for the honor cord and NHS stole when you graduate. Seniors who have not paid their dues by March 15 and do not have the required hours will not receive a stole at Senior Honors night. A student inducted as a junior pays $25 dues.
*This year, if you are a returning member (meaning this is your second year in NHS) you will only have to pay $20 in dues.
